How to play Mafia online

Mafia is a game about talking: by day the town argues and executes suspects, by night the mafia kills. Below are the full rules, exactly as they work in Mafia Dominion.

A hidden mafia kills the town by night while nobody knows who is who. By day the town argues and lynches a suspect; by night the mafia picks a victim. The Town wins by rooting out every mafioso; the Mafia wins once they equal the town. Some roles (Maniac, Provocateur) play for themselves.

The game

  1. Day — discussion

First the open "balagan" — free talk while everyone reads the room. Then players speak in turn; on your speech you may nominate one suspect (not yourself). Silenced players are skipped.

  2. Voting

If at least two are nominated, everyone votes. Most votes is eliminated. A tie triggers a re-vote (the tied two don’t vote); a second tie means no elimination.

  3. Night

The town sleeps. The mafia silently agree on one target — no agreement means a missed shot. With a walkie-talkie the mafia can talk at night. Roles act: the Sheriff checks, the Doctor heals, and more.

  4. Winning

The Town wins when all mafia are gone. The Mafia wins once they equal or outnumber the town. Solo roles (Maniac, etc.) win on their own terms.

  5. Last word

A player killed at night or lynched by day may leave a final message (the host can disable this).

Roles & cards

Mafia, Civilian, Sheriff and Doctor are free for everyone. Other roles are cards unlocked in the Shop; the host enables the cards they own when creating a room. Tap a card to flip it and read its abilities.

Ranking & ranks

Games earn XP and raise your level — each level maps to a rank. Ranked games use ELO. The best players reach the leaderboard.

Clubs

Join or found a club. Members donate coins and crystals to the Treasury, and the club’s shared XP grows from everyone’s games. Leveling the club unlocks new privileges and features. Clubs are ranked — become the best.

The Grinder

A weekly paid tournament open to everyone: 100 coins to enter, a table of 16, a fixed role set and automatic matchmaking — no host needed. Grinder points only go up over the week; a loss never takes them away. The week runs Monday to Sunday, then the top three share 5,000 coins (2,500 / 1,500 / 1,000) and the cup goes to the champion.

Influence — how you earn it

Influence (the red hat) accrues on its own as you play: you get 25% of the XP you earn, so a 100 XP game pays 25 influence. You spend it on the Map of Influence — buying businesses in a region and seizing other people's (a takeover needs 10% more than the owner staked). Influence can also be donated to the club treasury, where it pays only for taking and fortifying regions. Separately, a daily allowance of 5 covers entering games; VIP rooms are free.

Club authority

Authority (the black hat) is a club's public standing, visible to all. It accrues TO THE CLUB every day for every region it holds: a capital gives about 50 a day, the smallest about 10. Hold regions longer and it grows; lose a region and it stops. It cannot be spent: it powers club progress and will be the currency of the club championship.

Stats & achievements

Your profile tracks wins, survival, accuracy by faction and role, and win streaks. Milestones grant achievements.

VIP

VIP removes the Energy cost for creating rooms (unlimited rooms), adds advanced stats and other perks.

Crystals

Crystals are the premium currency. For now they’re used to level up your club. Buy them or earn them by winning seasons and club events.

Common questions

How many players do you need for Mafia?

From 4 to 16 at one table. The classic setup comes alive from six players up: more people means more roles and a harder read.

Do you need a moderator?

No. The app runs the game: it deals roles, announces phases, counts votes and keeps the speaking order. No human host required.

Do I have to turn my camera on?

No. Video and microphone can be switched off at the table. But live video is the whole point: faces and pauses tell you far more than a text chat.

Is Mafia online free?

Yes, you can always play for free. In-game purchases are optional — role cards, cosmetics and VIP. None of them buy a win.

A table is filling up right now

Free to play, with real video and voice. From 4 to 16 players at the table.
